What we’d like to achieve for our region:
- Connected and resilient growers who can bounce back from challenges such as extreme weather events
- Higher rates of success with gardening projects, and a more productive patch
- More local produce available for sale at our farmers’ markets
- Fast-tracking first-time gardeners into confident green-thumbs
We also strive to obtain resources that will enable us to work on research and partnership projects. Information from these initiatives will be made widely available to further support local growers.

Stef Garland - Founding member
Stef's love of nature led to a career in environmental sustainability, and to an abiding interest in plants and all things gardening. When establishing a garden in 2014 in the Gloucester area, she found the knowledge and assistance of other gardeners to be invaluable. Stef is keen to see other new residents benefit in the same way from the wonderful network of growers and gardeners across the MidCoast region. |
Brett Cooper - Limestone Permaculture
Limestone Permaculture Farm is a highly productive one-acre demonstration property delivering ethical, health conscious and empowering permaculture goods and services to our surrounding regions. Our farm showcases practical and transitioning examples of Permaculture Principles integrated into our Life, Business, Food Growing Systems & Farm Management. Limestone Permaculture Farm is located in the beautiful Karuah Valley of NSW. |
Marnie Johnson - Marnie's Garden
Misty Ridge is a beautiful, peaceful and mostly old growth and rainforest, 110 hectare property located in the foothills of the Barrington Tops World Heritage area. Ken and Marnie came to the Gloucester area from Sydney in 1993 and have developed the property in preparation for the anticipated impacts of climate and economic change. The passive-solar, energy-efficient home has proven its efficiency both economically and for lifestyle. Many techniques have been trialed, with Permaculture being the underlying philosophy for the design and development. Misty Ridge provides a working model of sustainable living, whilst producing a modest income and demonstrating how to work with the wildlife, manage extremes of climate and design and manage drought and fire resistant gardens. |
Melinda Kiker - Ladybug Shop
Based in Gloucester, Ladybug Garden and Pet Shop provides quality plants to suit our climate, sourcing ornamental and food producing plants in season and suitable to various conditions in our area. Many are locally grown, mostly organic too. There are indoor plants, and pots as well. |
